TenStagram 2014

31 December 2014
Last year I rounded up 2013 with 10 pictures from my Instagram account, dubbing it the TenStagram 2013 Tag. This year, I'm going to do exactly the same! If you want to do it yourself, feel free, I'm tagging you right now. Tag tag tag. Also, if you like inconsistent uploads of semi-interesting things and occasional awkward pictures of my face, feel free to follow me. (@robert_pask) I'm going to really make an effort in 2015, Trust me.

This year, I continued to play about with clothes and found myself really getting into shoes. Being a size 14, a lot of the time I've hated shoe shopping, and would've rather settled for something that's quite nice, than spend time trying to find something I'd really like. See: brown canvas shoes from Brantano circa 2011-2012 and their blue siblings circa 2012-2013. I decided to trust online shopping; it worked for clothes, it should work for shoes right? It did, and I started a new love affair with ASOS. (Btw, those shoes in the picture were £9 in a sale. £9. And size 13. And they fit well. What a day that was...

This picture comes from the time my Dad and I put together my new wardrobe. Using rejected wood from my Dad's friend's shop, and breaking up my old wardrobe and cupboards, we were able to construct a pretty bloody good new wardrobe. It was the first time I'd really done something so DIY, and felt my masculinity points shoot up. Much like when a Sim makes pancakes and levels up to Level 2 Cooking.

One of my true loves, baking, has not gone so well for me this year. I lost interest for a while, and didn't try and make anything, and as Christmas came flying towards us, it was time to put together some baked goods hampers for family and friends. Unfortunately, nothing went right... nothing. My peppermint creams did not form. My shortbread burnt. My cake pops were not solid enough and I ran out of icing sugar. My flapjacks were dry and tasteless. I wasted a lot of those things in the picture... on nothing. It was a stressful couple of days.

I worked at Heathrow Airport over the Summer which was both great and not great for many, many reasons, but I managed to earn some money and do a little good in the world by helping people with their suitcases and questions, and you can't turn your nose up at that.

This be Kirstie, one of my favourite people, ever. The picture, however is to symbolise just how bloody great my friends are. That's it. I'm very lucky.

I turned 21 this year, which a couple of years ago would've scared the crap out of me. I'm proud to say that I'm actually kind of okay with getting older, especially when I spent 6 months of my life in a constant state of anxiety over mortality. On a lighter note, I had a really lovely 21st birthday, and what I planned to be a nice night down the pub turned out to be a really great night down the pub. It was lovely.

This is the first thing I posted on Instagram this year. I came into 2014 feeling a little sorry for myself, and basically just not 100%, and I'm sad to say that I'll be feeling exactly the same going into 2015, for different reasons. Quotes like this can be very powerful and inspiring, and it really made me stand up say 'yes, better things are coming, let's speed that up.'

A simple game of Cluedo, mixed with potato shapes, crisps, stickets and... my friends, turned into this gem. And a gem it is.

My funny side really shone through this year.

To end, a lovely picture of a few of my friends. How bloody lovely. Btw pictures from this trip will be posted soon, I kind've dropped the ball there.

I hope you've had a lovely 2014 and you're 2015 is even better. If 2014 hasn't been the best year, here's to making sure 2015 redeems that. Like a group of legends once said... we're all in this together. WHAT TEAM?!
